Our director - Madge Moyse

Madge formed the Phoenix Cornwall Harmony Chorus in 1999. Music has played a major role in her life from a very early age, as a singer and a musician.

She was introduced to the harmony of barbershop in her early 20s when she became a member of the Ladies Association of British Barbershop singers (L.A.B.B.S.).

In 1980 Madge formed the Plymouth "Champagne " chorus; eventually she brought the chorus to Cornwall in 1985, and taught and directed them until 1999, taking them on to win the silver medal and most improved chorus at the barbershop convention in Derby that year. She is a certified director in the Sweet Adeline International organisation which is based in Tulsa U.S.A.

In 1984 she also formed the men's chorus "Cornish Connection" and taught and directed them until 1990.

Today Madge enjoys her job as a professional singing teacher/vocal coach and is the director of the Moyse Vocal Academy (M.V.A.) based in St Austell.
